In a span of only three months, a father managed to construct a comfortable coffee shop in his backyard.
A 53-year-old father from Orange County, California, has outdone many people's creative efforts during a quarantine by building a quaint backyard coffee shop that beats your average hip café in the span of just three months.
This do-it-yourself enthusiast balanced a full-time contract job and used his free time to complete his coffee sanctuary, La Vida. His project is unique because of its creative recycling of materials and objects that were thrown away from earlier projects. He gave them new life instead of throwing them on the rubbish heap, creating a comfortable haven where he can enjoy a cup of coffee with loved ones. Every coffee lover is now envious of this dad!
As a Father's Day tribute, this happy daughter tweeted about her dad's construction of a coffee shop in his garden.
Juliann Astrid tweeted, "It's true that my dad built a coffee shop in the backyard all by himself in three months." Her father had no idea that he was going to receive an unexpected Father's Day present at the time. Overnight, the tweet took off and became widely popular, trending on news websites and social media. Ed, a well-known builder now, didn't realize he was famous until the next day when his daughter gave him a framed Newsweek piece. Astrid later tweeted that her father's love of building had been rekindled by this unexpected attention. The tweet has 32.6k likes and 37k retweets as of right now.
This is how, in just three months, everything came together from the ground up.
After his full-time job, Ed devoted his weekends and evenings to this fascinating project.
He recycled and used materials left over from previous construction projects.
All the typical features of a coffee shop are present in the 120-square-foot establishment.
The coffee shop has a small room that can hold family and friends together, about six people, and an outside table that can seat two. This charming café has a wooden counter, a bar seating area, a pastry display, a mini fridge, a microwave, a chess table with two chairs, a bookcase, a TV, and a menu board in addition to the coffee maker. It basically has the atmosphere of a fully functional coffee shop that is ready to serve customers every day!
Ed's family members are honored in the bespoke cocktails listed on the charming chalkboard menu.
